These dog biscuits are very easy, nutritious, and your dog will love them as a snack or treat. They are also much more inexpensive than the kinds you buy at the store.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine:
3 whole eggsWork until all ingredients are mixed in. Knead on a floured board for a few minutes. Press into a greased jellyroll pan 11 x 15 in and roll out evenly to all sides with a rolling pin. Cut with a dull knife into the size snack you want. If cut into 36 pieces, they will be about 3 1/2 x 1 1/4 x 1/2 inches, about right for a medium-sized dog.
3 tbsp fat (vegetable oil, shortening, or bacon grease) *
3/4 cup liquid (broth, leftover gravy, or water with a bouillon cube dissolved in it)
3 tbsp dry milk powder
3 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup wheat bran
1 tsp salt
Bake one hour at 325 F, then turn off the oven and allow the pan to sit in the warm oven another 30 minutes. Cool on a rack. Store in a closed container at room temperature.* A dog requires more fat than a human. Up to one-third of a dog's diet should consist of fat. If your dog's coat is dull, you need to be giving it more fat, preferably animal fat.
